SBCT Auditions

Auditions for Flat Stanley and the children's roles in Gypsy will be held together on Sunday January 29th in the afternoon - from 1:30 to 4:30. Each student will have a 2 minute time slot consisting of a song selection (see below) and an interview with the directors.  STUDENTS need to contact Sara at sarab@sbct.org for a slot.  Students will have the option to list a show preference, if they have one, on their audition form. At the end of Sunday's audition an email will be sent out, no later than midnight, informing you if your student has been called back to Monday's audition.  At the end of Monday's audition an email will be sent out, no later than midnight, informing you if you student has been called back to Tuesday's audition. Not all students will make it to final call backs.

    Auditions will be held at the Century Center, downtown South Bend, on the lower level   in suite 16. (Map of where Century Center is located is below)

  •  All students should come on Sunday January 29th and arrive with parents 15 minutes prior to the audition time they have signed up for and check in with stage manager - contact Sara Bartlett at sarab@sbct.org to get a time slot. Tardiness may result in being bumped to the end of the audition time-slots.
  • An audition form is available on this website to fill out before you arrive or you may pick one up from the stage manager upon arrival.
  •  Students auditioning must currently be enrolled in grades 2nd through 8th.
  • If you make the second round of callbacks you must be available Monday, January 30th from 5:30 pm until 9:00 pm.  Monday's session will be a dance audition - please come prepared to move. 
  • If you make the final round of callbacks you must be available Tuesday, January 31st from 5:30pm to 9:00pm.  Students will be asked to cold-read for specific characters from either, one or both shows.

  • Scripts are NOT available to check out.  Please go to the show page on this web site to find out more about each show.

 Audition specifics for GYPSY

If auditioning for ONLY Gypsy

  • You must sing 16 bars of a song from a Broadway Musical of your choice and bring a copy of the piano sheet music for the accompanist.
  • Your sheet music should be clearly marked for accompanist, with the beginning and ending of your 16 bars of music.
  • If you have a special talent ie: playing an instrument, juggling, tap dance, etc.. you will have 30 seconds to show it off.

Audition Specifics for Flat Stanley

If auditioning for ONLY Flat Stanley:

  • If you are in 2nd - 6th grade be prepared to sing   "I Wish I Were".  The song and sheet music can be found on the Flat Stanley page of this website
  • If you are in 7th - 8th grade be prepared to sing  "The Funny Sunny Side" The song and sheet music can be found on the Flat Stanley page of this website.
  • Songs and sheet music can be found on the Flat Stanley  page of this web site 
  • If you are in 7th or 8th grade and wish to audition for Stanley please be prepared to sing both songs
  •  Girls MAY audition for Stanley
  • Many of those cast in the show will play more than one character and most roles are not gender specific. 


 If auditioning for both shows, you may choose your own Broadway Musical selection (16 bars please and bring sheet music) or one of the songs listed above in the Flat Stanley column.
